1) How do I register for a Ready For Dinner cooking package?
Register on www.ReadyforDinner.com or call 502-499-6999.

2) I don't really know how to cook. Can I do this?
This is a great way to provide healthy home cooked dishes for you and your family. If you can read, then you can make your dishes. (And if you cannot read, then we will help you.) Each recipe is presented with easy to follow directions. Almost everything you need to make the recipe is within arms reach. The ingredients are ready for you: cooked (if required), chopped, minced, grated, etc.

3) I'm weary of the dreaded casserole. What are the dishes like?
Each month we offer 15 dishes from which to choose. There are a variety of beef, chicken, pork, fish, seafood and vegetarian dishes. At Ready for Dinner we concentrate on recipe development. To verify it's wide appeal, many people from a variety of backgrounds sample each dish. We offer new and creative twists to recipes.

This is not the typical frozen dinner. You make your own dish, so you are able to customize the flavor by adding more or less of each ingredient. For many dishes, protein substitutions are available to better meet your dietary considerations.


4) Will there be people there to help me?
Yes - Definitely. Our staff is available to help answer questions, explain the recipes, replenish ingredients, and help with preparation if needed. And the best part is that we clean up the kitchen and do your dishes.

5) I really like this idea, but I don't have time to get there this month. Any options?
Let us help you. A Stand-in chef is someone who will attend the cooking event for you and prepare the dishes on your behalf. The fee for this service is $25.00. All you have to do is schedule a time to pick up the dishes or have the dishes delivered. Delivery is an additional $20, within Louisville's delivery area and to over 70 surrounding cities. If there are 5 or more cooking packages going to one location, then the delivery fee is waived. (Prices as of June 2004)

6) How do I get ready for a cooking event?
First step is to Register. Then, the day before (or earlier) make as much room as possible in your freezer and set the temperature to negative ten degrees (-10ºF). The day of put on comfortable clothes and get ready to have fun and impress yourself.

7) What do I bring to a cooking event?
A good mood and peace of mind. We supply the ingredients, freezer bags, and necessary containers. You will leave with lots of delicious food! Please bring a cooler to take your dishes home. Bring your own hat if you prefer not to use our provided hairnets or visors.

8) What do I wear to my cooking event?
Aprons are available for your use. Wear comfortable clothes considering food messiness. Flat rubber-sole shoes work best. Remove excess hand and wrist jewelry. Head covering must be worn for sanitation. Bring your own hat if you prefer not use our provided hairnets or visors.

9) How much time will I need to make the dishes?
It takes about one hour to make 6 dishes and about 2 hours to make 12 dishes. You are welcome to bring a guest to share the work. In that case, it will about half the time. Please let us know if you are bringing a guest to help you so we do not exceed capacity.

10) What is the cost of a cooking package?
The cost of the cooking package is determined by the quantity of dishes and the amount of people each dish serves. Sales tax is added to the prices.
•  Package A is 12 dishes that each serve up to 6 people for $245.
•  Package B is 12 dishes that each serve up to 3 people for $150.
•  Package C is 6 dishes that each serve up to 6 people for $150.
•  Package D is 6 dishes that each serve up to 3 people for $85.
•  Package E is 3 dishes that each serve up to 6 people for $85.

For any of the package options, if you choose to hire a Stand-in Chef, there is a $25 fee. Delivery is an additional $20, within Louisville's delivery area and to over 70 surrounding cities. If there are 5 or more cooking packages going to one location, then the delivery fee is waived. (Prices as of August 2008)

We prepare and supply the items necessary to make and wrap the dishes. The average cost per serving is as low as $3.40.


11) How do I select my dishes?
The dish descriptions can be seen on our website or on our monthly order form. The icons can help you identify which dishes are good for many categories; such as low fat, low carbohydrates, kid friendly. For many dishes, protein substitutions are available to better meat your dietary considerations. During the registration process you will pick the dishes and any protein substitutions you wish to make. You can select different dishes or more portions of the same dishes. The option is yours!

12) What if I need to cancel or reschedule an event?
There is no charge when you provide 48 hours notice when canceling. If there is less than 48 hours before your scheduled event, you may reschedule or hire a Stand-In Chef for the same day or the following day (based on availability), with no cancellation charges. If there is less than 48 hours before your scheduled event and you are not rescheduling or hiring a Stand-In Chef for the same day or the following day, there will be a cancellation charge of $100 for Package A, $50 for Package B or C, and $25 for Package D or E. (Policy as of June 2004)

13) What do I do after the cooking event?
Take home the dishes you made. Put them in your freezer and leave your freezer at negative ten degrees. After 24 hours, return your freezer temperature to normal setting of 0ºF. Post the provided in-freezer list in a convenient location. Take out a dish for the upcoming meal to enjoy with your friends and family.

14) What if I want to have a private cooking event?
We love parties - going to them and hosting them. All you have to do is call or e-mail us to schedule a time. There are many different private parties. A minimum of 10 packages is required. If you have something else in mind, call or e-mail and we can work out the details.

15) Can I bring someone to the event to cook with me?
Please feel welcome to bring one guest to help you prepare your dishes. Not only will you be able to spend time together, it will take less time to make the dishes. Please let us know if you are bringing a guest to help you, so we do not exceed capacity.

16) What can you do for someone who lives outside of Louisville?
We ship! We can help you and/or your loved ones get Ready for Dinner anywhere in the continental USA – we arrange the shipping, and you pay the costs. Delivery is an additional $20 to over 70 surrounding cities. Regularly, almost monthly, shipments arrive to Chicago (without shipping costs) for customer pickup. Call or email for specifics.

17) Why attend a cooking event when I can do this myself at home?
Yes, we know you can do this yourself at home but why? After extensive recipe development and tasting, we select the menus, buy the groceries, prepare the ingredients and probably, most importantly, we do the dishes. Not only will you have fun making your dishes, you get to spend time with a group of people while doing it. With no kids demanding your attention and no telephones ringing to interrupt your process, 2 hours at "Ready For Dinner" could take 2-3 days working by yourself at home.

18) How can I earn a FREE dish or other great items?
There are many ways for you to earn FREE food and services. You may do so by:
•  Recommending a new customer
•  Submitting a recipe that is used in our monthly menus
•  Hosting a Private Cooking Event
•  Hosting a Private Stand-in Chef Pickup/Delivery
•  Hosting a Private Try It!
•  Coordinate a home or office Tasting

19) What type of people benefit from a "Ready For Dinner" cooking package?
Anyone and everyone you know could benefit from a cooking package. We have dual-income families, stay at home moms, single parents, empty nesters, singles, newlyweds and retirees coming to Make It, Take it and Bake It. It is good for anyone who wants to reduce a little stress while providing home cooked, nutritionally balanced meals for themselves and their friends and family.
